Los Angeles is already known for its impressive art museums. These include the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Getty, the Norton Simon Museum, and the Hammer Museum, just to name a few. However, there is always room for new art and soon there will be a new museum to add to the list. On September 20th, the Broad Museum will open to the public. Be sure to swing by and check out this brand new museum while staying in West Hollywood!
The Broad Museum will be a brand new contemporary art museum in LA. At the Broad, there will be nearly 2,000 works of art in the collection. This holding is one of the most prominent collections of postwar contemporary art in the whole world. The 120,000 square foot building consists of two floors of gallery space where the comprehensive collection will be shown to the public. The Broad museum was able to be created thanks to the philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad. Over the span of several decades, they have assembled a collection of fantastic pieces of contemporary art and now they will finally be able to share this work with the public. Come and enjoy pieces of work from artists such as Jasper Johns, Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Roy Lichtenstein, and Barbara Kruger. In addition to the fantastic collection at the museum, the Broad will also host a number of programs around art for the general public. To learn more about these programs, visit thebroad.org/programs.
General admission to the Broad museum is FREE. Since this will be a brand new museum, advanced online registration is encouraged though it is not required. However, if you want to ensure that you can come at a specific date and time, and to avoid long lines, tickets should be reserved online. This can be done by visiting thebroad.org/visit.
