Prepare yourself for a performance unlike any you’ve seen before when you see one of the most unique family friendly plays in Hollywood. Almost everyone knows the story of The Ugly Duckling, but you have never seen it like this before. The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts is hosting a unique light show production of this classic children’s story. The show will be brought to audiences by the New Orleans’ Lightwire Theater. The Ugly Duckling will be performed from October 10th through the 18th. Don’t miss out on this unique performance!

Called, “Absolutely incredible” by Rolling Stone magazine, this version of The Ugly Duckling will keep you mesmerized the whole time. Imagine full bodied puppets that are illuminated through electroluminescence. In essence, the show is performed in the dark with only the lights from the costumes illuminating the stage. This is indeed a show that will delight audience members of all ages. The Ugly Duckling, made famous by Hans Christian Anderson, tells the story of a homely little duck that has been born in a barn. Surrounded by all the other little ducks, the ugly duckling is made fun of by the ducks as well as the other barnyard animals. He sets off on his own where he continues to be teased by the various animals he comes into contact with. After spending the winter on his own, he finds that he has been transformed into a beautiful swan and is accepted into his new family of other swans.

Visit thewallis.org for more information. Runtime of this performance of The Ugly Duckling is 45 minutes and there will be no intermission. The show is recommended for children 4 and up.
